Firms marked Ad pay to be shown first: Featured, then Priority, then Boosted. Sorted by nearest, that only applies within 15 miles of where you searched – beyond 15 miles the nearest firm always comes first, whoever it is. With no place searched, paying firms in the same group take turns at the top in a fresh order each visit.
After the paid groups come firms whose insurance certificate we have checked, then everyone else. Sorting A–Z or Newest ignores payment.
Ratings and review counts are from Google, taken when the listing was added. Paying never changes them.
